South African Midfielder Luyanda Ntshangase Dies Months After Lightning Struck Him


21-year-old Midfielder Luyanda Ntshangase a talented forward‚ who had been fighting for his life for months after being struck by lightning playing in a friendly match for Maritzburg died yesterday.
This was confirmed by a shaken United chairman Farook Kadodia on Friday, making it the third time in three years United has been struck by tragedy.

Ntshangase, who made his debut against Kaizer Chiefs in October 2016, is the third Maritzburg player to die in a little more than two years after midfielders Mondli Cele, 27, and Mlondi Dlamini, 20, died in separate car accidents.

Ntshangase had made four Premier Soccer League starts and had advanced to United’s senior team last season.
